Boeing employees have spoken to the Trump transition team, telling them that the costs of renewing the Air Force One fleet could be cheaper if the U.S. Air Force and Secret Service reduce its requirements for converting the aircraft.

Trump’s complaint about the potential high costs of outfitting the aircraft receive support from fellow Republican Sen. John McCain who also wants a review on the program.

Boeing has so far been awarded $170 million to study the capabilities of the aircraft. The Pentagon has estimated that it will cost taxpayers around $3.2 billion for the whole project.
