South Korea’s Top Heligun is a former Special Ops soldier

The South Korean Army selected Warrant Officer Chung Sang-geun as its top helicopter gunner for 2016. A AH-1S pilot with the 109th aerial brigade, Chung was a former Special Forces solider.

He had to put aside his studies in the university and enroll into the Army so that his sister could finish her college education. Without a university degree, Chung could not sign up as a pilot.

He switched to flying helicopters after four years of training with special warfare command.
