Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth has been Davis-Monthan Air Force Base; Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida; and Whiteman Air Force Base to be the preferred location for the first Air Force Reserve-led F-35 base by the U.S. Air Force.

An environmental impact study will be conducted before the Air Force makes a final basing decision.
The first F-35As will arrive in the mid-2020s, the press release said.
