Jane’s says Thailand and Russia are in talks on a defense industrial collaboration program that could lead to the establishment of a production and maintenance facility in Thailand for the Mil Mi-17V-5 helicopter.

Thailand is keen to buy another batch of Mi-17V-5s to replace its CH-47Ds and Jane’s said Bangkok is likely to acquire twelve helicopters.
The facility will help support the these helicopters as well as five others that were brought by Thailand earlier.
