The U.S. Navy has been satisfied with the recent developments of the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) and has decided that the new system to stop carrier-borne aircraft will be installed on board the next USS John F. Kennedy.

This comes after the system had a thorough review by an AAG Resource Requirements Review Board (R3B) in November 2016.
The service had previously explore the option of retaining the legacy Mk-7 arresting gear system for the new ship.
