The Royal Canadian Air Force has issued a preliminary report into the crash of a CF-18 on Nov. 28, 2016. The pilot of the aircraft was carrying out a simulated low-level bomb attack during the incident at Cold Lake Air Weapons, Alberta.

Pilots had to carry out a “safe escape maneuver” after weapons release and the procedure calls for a bank angle of 78 degrees to maintain the same altitude. However, the mishap pilot entered a left bank at an angle of 118 degrees and lost height.
The report said he did not issue any Mayday call nor initiate ejection. Investigation continues.
