USN intends to buy at least 80 Super Hornets

The U.S. Navy has told the Senate Armed Services seapower subcommittee that the service needs at least 80 new Boeing Super Hornet fighters to “address continuing warfighter demand for advanced tactical aircraft.”

According to USNI, the service intends to procure the jets in batches, starting with 14 jets in 2018 and buy between 14 to 23 aircraft per year till 2022.
