First woman to command a U.S. Navy CSG is retiring

Vice Adm. Nora Tyson, commander of the U.S. Navy’s Third Fleet, will be retiring and her post will be taken over by Vice Adm. John Alexander.

Before becoming the first woman to lead a U.S. Navy ship fleet, Tyson was also the first woman to command a Carrier Strike Group (CSG) from 2010 to 2012.
