Apparently, Patriot system failed to intercept Scud fired at Riyadh’s airport

A group of experts have concluded that the American Patriot air defense missile system failed to intercept a Burqan-2, a variant of the Scud missile, fired at Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid international airport in Riyadh on Nov. 4.

Although five missiles were fired in rapid succession at the incoming Burqan-2, the missile body was probably hit by the Patriot but the warhead might have evaded interception and actually landed one kilometer southeast of the domestic terminal.
