U.S. Pacific Command, Adm. Harry Harris, told the House Armed Services Committee this week that a radar that can track ballistic missiles will be up and running in Hawaii by 2023.

Harris also said he hopes a study to examine the feasibility of basing the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system in Hawaii can be carried out.
