Taiwan upgrades its underground air bases

Taiwan is currently upgrading the underground air bases at Hualien and Taitung, United Daily News reports.

These bases are all located on the east side of the island’s Central Mountain Range. They were considered impervious to ballistic missile attacks from China. However, the mainland has shown that it can now launch cruise missile attacks from the eastern side of the island.

To better prepare for such attacks, the bases will improve their air conditioning, power generators, fire fighting equipment.
