Japan’s Ministry of Defense has requested for $60 million for fiscal 2019 to start research on its own version of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) sensor network.
The ministry hopes to have a prototype system by fiscal 2022 and test it aboard its destroyers a year later. It will eventually be integrated on its warplanes as well.
It will be installed alongside new destroyers that are being integrate with the American-version of the CEC.
