The Gripen E has fired a missile for the first time. The testing took place in October 2018 at Vidsel Test Range in the north of Sweden.

A IRIS-T air-to-air missile was fired and one external fuel drop tank was jettisoned as part of the test campaign to verify the ability to release and launch external payloads.
