Izumo will not have its own AEW aircraft, will rely on E-767

JS Izumo will not be able to have its own complement of airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft after conversion into a fixed-wing aircraft carrier as it will be deemed to have offensive capabilities.

Therefore, the defense ministry has decided that the carrier will be protected by early warning aircraft such as the E-767 and E-2D from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force.
