The Swiss Defense Ministry has decided to tap former astronaut and military pilot Claude Nicollier to study its proposal to buy new fighters and an air defense system.

Defence Minister Viola Amherd has asked Nicollier to provide a second opinion on the proposal before submitting it to the Federal Council, Switzerland’s executive branch.
