Indian Air Force wants to reactivate WW2 airstrip

A World War Two airstrip that has been abandoned since the 1950s in Tamil Nadu, India could be reactivated in the near future as an east coast air surveillance base for the Indian Air Force.

Anonymous sources told Times of India that the base could be used to counter rising Chinese influence in that area, which is close to Sri Lanka.

Attack helicopters could be stationed there if the plan goes ahead.
