The 314th Fighter Squadron brought 16 F-16s to MCAS Miramar for the Basic Course students and instructor pilots to have dissimilar air combat training (DACT) with marines from VMFA-314.
Capt Eric Anderson, 314th FS instructor pilot, says the new environment also teaches the students to learn to adapt to a new airspace.
The less than ideal weather conditions in San Diego also forces the students to do more instrument flying. Something that cannot be easily replicated back at Holloman Air Force Base.
