South Korea says it won’t allow U.S. to deploy INF-range missiles on its soil

Seoul has declared publicly that it will not allow the United States to deploy Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF)-range missiles in the country.

New U.S. Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper had said in Australia that he hopes to have these conventional missiles in Asia as soon as possible.

“Our government did not have any official discussions with the U.S. on the possible introduction of intermediate missiles (on South Korean soil). We have not internally reviewed the issue and have no plan to do so,” South Korean defense ministry spokesperson Choi Hyun-soo told a regular briefing.
