The Indian Air Force plans to send a request for proposal (RFP) to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the purchase of 70

To do that, the service plans to seek the clearance from the defence acquisition council to buy the planes under Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2016. This will allow it to issue out the RFP before user trials.

Having receive a RFP may allow HAL to boost the performance of the Honeywell TPE331-12B turboprop engine, doing so requires an investment of around $25 million.
