Indian Air Force to buy more Tejas instead of sourcing from foreign manufacturers

Gen. Bipin Rawat, India’s Chief of Defense Staff, said in an interview that the country will buy another 83 Tejas fighters instead of 114 foreign-made aircraft.

“The IAF is saying, I would rather take the indigenous fighter, it is good,” Rawat was quoted as saying.

India started a global search for new fighters in 2018, the proposed tender attracted companies such as Boeing, Dassault and Saab.

From 1971 to Feb 27th 2019 IAF had been buying foreign aircraft, but when air battle happened on Feb 27th all these expensive foreign aircraft let India down……..SU 30 had to leave the airspace , mirage 2000 had internal radar issues and could not confront the intruding aircraft, Mig 21 bison got shot down , Israeli anti aircraft missile shot IAF own Mi17 helicopter…….time to go local !!!
