MaltaToday has published the names of 20 mercenaries who had escaped Libya and entered Malta illegally last year. These men were supposed to be operating three former South African Gazelle helicopters and three AS332s.

These helicopters are to be used to target the sea supply route for weapons from Turkey to the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli.
They were arrested by police and detained for two days after arriving on two Malta-leased RHIBs at Valletta seaport. They were released after the Maltese company that leased them the two RHIBs paid a $16,000 fine.
The newspaper added that there were plans to acquire and operate a AH-1F as well.
