Citing three experts, the articles said that the current COVID-19 pandemic had weakened the U.S. Navy’s morale and the combat capability.

Li Jie, a Beijing-based naval expert, told the Global Times, that it is also possible that another COVID-19 outbreak will take place aboard the massive warships as the military cares whether sailors are deployed rather than if they are ready to fight. His view was shared by Wei Dongxu, a Beijing-based military analyst.

All three also spoke on how the Americans might send the ships and their aircraft to around China to try and provoke Beijing.
