India to fast track the purchase of MiG-29s and Su-30MKIs

A plan to buy 21 MiG-29 fighters and 12 Su-30MKIs by the Indian Air Force is being fast track and the proposal will likely be considered by the Ministry of Defense during a meeting next week.

Indian Air Force chief Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhaduria had revealed last October on the proposal. The MiG-29s are white tails and the jets were found to be in good conditions. The new Su-30MKIs will be built locally by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) in Nashik. The Sukhois will be attrition replacements.
