USAF unit deployed to Andersen AFB has 35 COVID-19 cases; airmen violated restricted movement orders

A U.S. Air Force unit that arrived in Guam on May 26 has 35 cases of COVID-19 infections among its members.

They were staying at Reef Hotel and today it was announced that 15 airmen violated restricted movement orders and could have exposed the public to the virus.

The first case was identified on Jun. 11 and by Jun. 20, there were 35 confirmed cases from the unidentified unit.

Guam’s Department of Public Health and Social Services is now providing testing to employees of the hotel and anyone who might have come into contact with those airmen.

Joint Region Marianas Commander Rear Adm. John Menoni has issued an order prohibiting service members on Guam from going to any bars or dine-in restaurants.
