Japan to transfer Ospreys to JGSDF Camp Kisarazu next month

Japan intends to transfer the first of two MV-22B Ospreys that arrived home in May to JGSDF Camp Kisarazu next month.

V-22 Ospreys bound for Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) units arrive in Japan at Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, May 8, 2020. The V-22 off-load marked the first time JGSDF V-22s arrived on Japanese soil. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Lauren Brune)

The first tiltrotor will fly there on Jul. 7 and the other Osprey will follow later in the middle of the month.

Camp Kisarazu is home to Japan’s 1st Helicopter Brigade.
