Japan’s Nikkei newspaper reported on Jun. 29 that Tokyo will establish an electronic warfare (EW) unit at JGSDF Camp Kengun in Kumamoto next year.
The unit will have 80 personnel and will deal with enemy attacks by jamming their communications and radar signals using electronic and infrared means.
It will also be responsible for the defense of the Ryukyu Islands.
