A USMC F-35B assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wings has crashed after a mid-air collision with a KC-130J near Thermal airport in California.
Both aircraft are stationed at the MCAS Miramar, the service said.
The pilot of the F-35B was able to eject safely while the KC-130J, with 8 on board, was able to land on a field.
