Watch the final flight of Blue Angel #5 at Hickory Regional Airport

Blue Angel F/A-18A BuNo 162411 flew its final flight to Hickory Regional Airport on Nov. 13.

The #5 aircraft will retire at the Hickory Aviation Museum.

Before landing, the pilot flew a short demonstration for the crowd that had gathered to greet the aircraft.

Only five museums will get to keep a Blue Angel legacy Hornet and this is the one out of two that flew to its final destination. The other jet was flown to the Smithsonian Museum.

The three other aircraft will be dismantled and truck to their final resting place.

  1. The Smithsonian Museum or most likely Udvar H at Dulles airport? I checked news sources about the Blue Angels Hornet and there was no mention about the flight to Dulles. Maybe this week.
