VAQ-131 completes expeditionary deployment in Japan, replaced by VAQ-135

VAQ-131 has completed its first expeditionary deployment at NAF Misawa, Japan on Nov. 6 and was reliefed by VAQ-135.

MISAWA, Japan (Aug. 25, 2020) – EA-18G Growlers assigned to the “Lancers” of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 131 and P-8A Poseidons assigned to the “Screaming Eagles” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 1 and “The Tridents” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 26 go through preflight preparation on the Naval Air Facility (NAF) Misawa flight line. NAF Misawa provides aviation and ground logistics support and services to all permanent and transient U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps forces in Northern Japan. That was the unit’s first expeditionary deployment. But due to COVID-19, the EA-18Gs did not detach to any other places.
