Japan plans to turn Mageshima into a Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) location for the U.S. Navy.

Six F-15s will fly over the area at 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. local time and two more jets will conduct flights from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Four of those flights will be visual flight rules while another four will be done using instruments.

Noise measurement instruments will be placed on Tanegashima, east of Mageshima, to collect data.
