ACC establishes Campaign Plan working group to prepare for strategic competition with a near peer

The U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command has established a Campaign Plan working group to prepare the Command for strategic competition with a near peer.

Two F-35A Lightning IIs and two F-16 Fighting Falcons assigned to Eielson Air Force Base fly alongside two F-22 Raptors assigned to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson as part of a mass formation flight May 5, 2020. With the arrival of the F-35A last month, these three fighter aircraft platforms will train together in the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex on a regular basis. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Three primary lines of effort have been identified for the working group to pursue.

-Implement a new combat air forces force generation model
-Optimize wings for the high-end fight
-Train Agile Combat Employment-capable forces

The force generation model will create a new two-year combat air forces force generation cycle that has four phases, each phase is a six-month period. Forces will deploy as needed in the “Available” phase, recharge in the “Reset” phase, begin increasing readiness levels in the “Prepare” phase, and gear up to deploy in the “Ready” phase.
