NASA adapting Auto GCAS for small or unmanned aircraft

NASA has taken the Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto GCAS) that it help develop to the next level so that it is suitable for non-fighter aircraft.

The improved GCAS (iGCAS) can be used in small aircraft or unmanned air vehicles.

NASA demonstrated the system on a Cessna 172SP in a simulator software. The system was able to prevent the 172SP from diving into a canyon, into the side of a mountain, or into the ground.
