Six years after canceling contract, Canada to buy radars from Thales again

The Canadian government has awarded two contracts worth a total of $149 million to Thales Canada for three tactical control radars.

One of the radar will be delivered to 4 Wing Cold Lake and the other one at 3 Wing Bagotville. The last remaining radar will be used as needed based on operational requirements.

According to the press release, these new radars are manufactured by Lockheed Martin.

In July 2015, the Canadian government terminate a contract with Thales Canada for two Ground Master 400 air defense radars due to cost increase. The new radars were ordered to replace existing AN/TPS-70 radars at Bagotville and Cold Lake.
