Raptors scrambled again as Russian bombers approach Hawaii

Hawaii Air National Guard F-22 Raptors were scrambled for the second time in a week to meet approaching Russian bombers.

North American Aerospace Defense Command F-22 fighter aircraft, supported by E-3 airborne warning and control system and KC-135 refueler aircraft, intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers escorted by two Su-35 fighter aircraft late Monday evening.


The incident happened on Jun. 18. Two fighters were launch but did not encounter the Russia aircaraft.

On Jun. 13, three F-22s were scrambled in a similar situation.
