Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum restores EC-135C to its original state

The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum near Ashland, Nebraska has restored a EC-135C in its collection back to its original condition.

Volunteers took six years and $87,500 of work to restore #63-8049. This aircraft was delivered to the U.S. Air Force in October 1964 and took its last flight in January 1992.

The aircraft was left outdoors for more than 20 years before it went to the hangar in 2015. By then, it was plague by rust and corrosion.

Work is not done yet, the wings and nacelles are still waiting to be restored but they won’t be reattached back to the aircraft due to a lack of space.
