The Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) has entered into a technical arrangement with the Italian Air Force whereby Japan will send pilots to enroll in the (Phase IV) advance training courses at the International Flight Training School (IFTS).

Besides students, the arrangement could allow Japanese instructors to participate in the program. Japan is the third nation after Germany and Qatar to join the IFTS program in Italy.
