General Atomics has flown a new drone based on MQ-1C

Sometime during this summer, General Atomics flew a new drone that is heavily based on the MQ-1C. The new unmanned air vehicle can carry up to 16 Hellfire missiles while requiring less than 800 ft of runway to operate.

General Atomics spokesman C. Mark Brinkley declined to comment on this story to Breaking Defense.

An anonymous source told the publication that the company is eyeing the Army’s Future Command and Special Operations Command as potential customers. The UAV could also be offered to the Italian Navy for shipborne operations.
