First autonomous Black Hawk flight

DARPA, together with Sikorsky, has completed the first autonomous flight of the UH-60A Black Hawk on Feb. 5.

The helicopter flew for 30 minutes over Fort Campbell.

To achieve the feat, DARPA installed its Aircrew Labor In-Cockpit Automation System (ALIAS) into the helicopter.

The ALIAS flew the rotorcraft through a simulated cityscape, avoiding imagined buildings while planning new routes in real-time.
