British civilian pilot killed after ejecting from M346

A Leonardo M-346 advanced jet trainer crashed into Mount Legnoneon, Italy on Mar. 16 and a British civilian pilot died during the ejection.

The Italian company said contact with the jet was lost at 11:35 a.m. local time. The jet had departed its facility at Venegono Superiore at thirty-five minutes earlier.

The British pilot has been identified as Dave Ashley. He was killed as he did not have sufficient height to deploy this parachute fully and hit the slope of the mountain.
