Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has decided to partner with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to convert 767 airliners into airborne refueling tankers in India.
Both parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for this endeavor, HAL said in a statement.
The Indian Air Force has a long-standing requirement for new aerial refueling tankers and the Indian government stated that it prefers to procure defense equipment locally.
