South Korean Air Force disclosed that KT-1s that collided in mid-air were from different flights

South Korea’s air force has disclosed some information about the crash of two KT-1 trainers on Apr. 1 that killed four people.

The service explained that there were three KT-1s being airborne at that time, two were in a formation flight while the third was flying separately. One of the KT-1 in the formation had changed course due to weather and the instructor failed to notify the other aircraft in the formation.

Separately, the air traffic controller also failed to notify the pilots of the course change. The KT-1 from the formation later collided with the other KT-1 on a separate flight.
