At the recently concluded ILA Berlin Air Show, MBDA took the opportunity to unveil the Joint Fire Support Missile (JFS-M) that can be fitting inside the ammunition pods of the HIMARS or M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).
The company decided that a cruise missile solution is more desirable than using ballistic missiles as the latter require larger boosters.
The video from MDBA reveals that the JFS-M can employ both active and passive seekers. And each pod can contain two missiles. Therefore, the HIMARS can fire two missiles while the M270 can launch up to four missiles.
