The Australian government announced on Nov. 1 that Project AIR 7404 Phase 1 has chosen the C-130J. The project’s aim was to replace and expand the current fleet of 12 C-130J with a new aircraft.

The defense ministry determined that the C-130J was the only option that meets the requirements for low risk, being certified in all roles, that is proven, mature and affordable.
