The Combat Action Badge (CAB) was created in 2005 and Duffney left the Army to work as a maintenance test pilot one month after the creation of the CAB. He decided to return to active duty in 2020, at the age of 59, and it became easier for him to apply for the CAB.

So on Oct. 28, Duffney finally received his CAB during an award ceremony at Hunter Army Airfield.
