The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) has successfully fired a SM-3 Block IIA interceptor for the first time.
The multi-day Japan Flight Test Aegis Weapon System-07 also saw the destroyer Maya use a SM-3 Block IB interceptor to intercept a short-range ballistic missile target. A subsonic aerial target was shot down by a SM-2 Block IIIB missile as well.
