Bud Anderson promoted to Brigadier General

World War 2 ace Clarence Emil “Bud” Anderson was promoted to the honorary rank of brigadier general at the Aerospace Museum of California in McClellan, Dec. 2.

Born in 1921 in California, Anderson flew the P-51 Mustang during the war and is credited with shooting down 16 enemy aircraft, making him a triple ace.

Anderson retired from the Air Force in 1972 with the rank of colonel. After his military career, Anderson worked in the aerospace industry.

At the ceremony presided by Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., Anderson was also presented with a general officer’s personal flag.
