F-22 now has a ladder that can be stowed inside the cockpit

Operation Hoodoo Sea, a military exercise conducted by five Air National Guard wings and supported by two Air Force Reserve wings, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other government agencies, is currently being held in the coastal southeast of the United States.

A prototype portable camoflage, concealment and deception hangar is staged on the ramp as part of operation Hoodoo Sea on May 2, 2023, at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida. The excercise, led by the Virginia ANG, seeks to test and validate minimum force elements using multi-capable Airmen, executing functions across job specialties and across multiple platforms. Participating units are testing innovative solutions for agile secure communications, portable aerospace ground equipment, and aircraft concealment and survival kits.

According to Lt. Col. Lawrence Dietrich, the exercise commander of Operation Hoodoo Sea, the F-22 ladder is a new innovation being tested during the military exercise. The ladder is designed to collapse and stow inside the F-22 cockpit, reducing the forward staging requirement of equipment and people for ingress and egress of the cockpit to zero. This innovation helps to save space and improve the efficiency of F-22 operations during the exercise.

Another innovation is a prototype portable camouflaged, concealment and deception hangar that is staged on the ramp of Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida.

  1. Don’t forget to insert a new collapsible ladder in current and future versions of the NGAD and current versions of the F-15 and F-16.

Learn to always think out of the box and you will innovate!
