Head of 19th Air Force fired by AETC commander

The U.S. Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command Commander, Lt. Gen. Brian S. Robinson, took swift action on May 9 by relieving the 19th Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Phillip A. Stewart from command due to alleged misconduct currently under investigation.

Lt. Gen. Robinson cited the need to maintain good order and discipline, as well as continued high performance within the organization as the reason for the decision.

In a statement, Robinson emphasized the Air Force’s commitment to thoroughly investigating any allegations of misconduct. The interim 19th AF commander will be Brig. Gen. Christopher R. Amrhein, who assumes the role immediately.
