During the exchange, the 17th Squadron of the Republic of China Air Force’s (RoCAF) 5th Tactical Fighter Wing assumed the role of the simulated enemy. This setup allowed them to engage in aerial tactical combat scenarios and practice various maneuvers.

The primary objective of this exercise was to enhance the aerial combat capabilities of Taiwanese Mirage 2000 and F-16V fighter pilots. It provided a valuable opportunity for the RoCAF to evaluate the deployment and operational effectiveness of its Mirage fighter jets.

This annual exchange is an integral part of the cooperative efforts between Taiwan and France, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of both nations’ air forces. France sends active-duty or retired pilots to eastern Taiwan each year for these tactical and strategic exchanges. The Mirage fighter jets, crucial to Taiwan’s air defense, play a significant role in high-altitude interception, ensuring the island’s security.
