The Norwegian government is at odds with the military over the closure of Andøya air base in the northern part of the country.

The plan was announced back in 2016 to close the base once the Boeing P-8A maritime patrol aircraft is inducted into service. Currently, Andøya is home to Norway’s P-3 fleet.
But defense officials wants Andøya to remain operational after the P-8 arrives at Evenes air base.
